• Welcome!

I love all types of photography but I specialize in farm photos that tell the story of your life on the farm where you live and work, travel photography that tells the story of a place and its people, and food photography, which can tell the history of an entire family.

Growing up we raised sheep. I wish I had a photo of me standing in the pens, giving a bottle to the newborn lambs!

My great-grandma Martha taught me how to bake a pie. Every time I bake one, I think of her. I only wish I could somehow recapture that day in photos!

My first international trip was to Guatemala when I was 12 and I haven't stopped exploring the world since. Getting to know people and hear their stories is the most important part of any trip- be it near or far.

Guatemala Adventure

I just returned from two weeks of volunteering in San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala.

From coffee to chicken buses to volcanos and cooking with nightshade it was an incredible experience!

Let’s Connect on Instagram!

Rainstorm Sunset

Instagram has become my home base for connecting with friends, new and old and I’d love to connect with you! If you’re already on Instagram I am @gretcholi.

How to join Instagram:

Marschwatch Farm on Instagram

1. On your smart phone download the Instagram app. The intention behind instagram is that it be ‘instant’ so you can only upload photos into Instagram through your mobile device, thus you need to have the app on your phone.

2. Sign up. Come up with a user name and password (both of which can be changed in the future).

3. Fill in any additional information that you want – or don’t.

4. Give yourself a profile photo. Click on the grey circle in the upper left hand of the screen. Several options should pop up on the bottom of your screen to “change profile photo”. Click on the Choose from Library button. Your phone may then ask you to grant the Instagram app the ability to access your photos. Say yes and scroll through your photos to find the one you want to use. Select it and make it your profile photo.

5. Add friends. Click on the icon that looks like a magnifying glass. Click on the top where it says search and then select PEOPLE. Then type in ‘Gretcholi‘ to search for me. Click on the link that pops up and then hit ‘Follow’. Repeat again for more friends.

Family Time on a Road Trip

There is nothing better than a fulfilling road trip! Especially when it’s a road trip out to see some of the cutest boys in the world! (and when the road trip is taken with your dog!) It was a great trip, with lots of photography opportunities.

Don’t you just love this photo of the boys sitting in a wheat field (after having taught me all about how to tell a good wheat plant from a bad one)!

Here is a bunch of road trip posts in case you wanted to see more of the photos I took while traveling the open road!

Do you love photography as much as I do? Then we have something in common! Keep in touch by liking PickleTravel & Gretchen Alms Photography’s Facebook page or following me on Pinterest. There are always more photos to come!

Capture Minnesota III

Capture Minnesota is in its final days before they close the contest for the Capture Minnesota III book.

There are so many wonderful images from amazingly talented photographers and artists across the state, that I  highly recommend you go and check it out; here’s the link.

You can see my photos here – I’d love to hear which ones are your favorites.

Want to see your home in its best light? Hire a Professional Photographer. Real Estate Photography brings in buyers and helps you get your home sold. Nearly all buyers begin their home search online. When they see a home that they like on the internet or a website, they contact their real estate agent to set up a showing, without those amazing photos your home doesn’t stand out above the rest.

Professional photography makes a home stand out over the rest. It gives buyers a real sense of being inside; allows them to start picturing themselves living there. Help sell your listing today!
